Flap related issues:

During the surgery, the corneal tissue flap is lifted and replaced. Sometimes this flap may move from its place by the continuous rubbing of the eyes. Thus, it is important to follow the post-operative instructions after the surgery.

Irregular astigmatism:

The corneal curvature is irregular. Laser correction can lead to astigmatism. The symptoms include double vision. This may need another surgery.

Epithelial Ingrowth:

The outer layer of the cornea can grow under the flap. This is self-limiting and does not cause any problems.

Diffuse Lamellar Keratitis:

The condition involves inflammation under the LASIK flap. Some inflammation of the cornea is normal but if it is persistent, it can interfere with the healing and cause loss of vision. It can be treated with antibiotics and topical steroids. Otherwise, the flap may need to be lifted and cleaned.

Keratoconus:

Usual bulging of the eye surface can occur when excess tissue is removed from the cornea during the surgery.
