Dr. Dharma Rakshak Ayapati is a leading Cardiothoracic Surgeon with 35+ years of experience in the field.
Dr. Dharma has been the Professor, Dean and Director/Vice – Chancellor at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences.
He holds professional memberships of the Paediatric Cardiac Society of India, the Association of Gastrointestinal Endo Surgeons of India, the All India Biotech Association – Southern Chapter and the Asian Transplant Society as a life member.
Dr. Dharma is also a fellow and life member of the Indian Association of Cardiothoracic Surgeons and a fellow of the Association of Surgeons of India.
Dr. Dharma completed his MBBS in 1979 from Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), Tirupati and then did MS in 1982 from Madras University, Chennai, He pursued M.Ch from Mangalore University, Karnataka, India.
Dr. Dharma is an experienced cardiac surgeon with expertise in bypass surgery, aortic valve surgery, aorta surgery, heart valve/infarct exclusion surgery, thoracic surgery, valve repair and replacement surgery, keyhole angioplasty, arrhythmia/heart failure/ aortic and endovascular/minimally-invasive cardiac surgery, bypass and coronary artery surgery among a few other procedures.
In 1995, Dr. Dharma performed the 1st successful homograft repair with Truncus Arteriosus in Andhra Pradesh (AP) and a year later he performed the first successful complete AV canal repair in former AP and a transposition of arteries repair.
Dr. Dharma has been conferred with awards and also featured in the Madison Who’s Who in 2010.
